TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) -- Saddam Hussein, his half brother, and the

Saddam Hussein on siis tuomittu kuolemaan hirttämällä. Lopputulema oikeudenkäynnistä ei varmaan ollut kenellekään yllätys. Rikokset ihmiskuntaa vastaan onkin tuomittava, joten tällainen oikeusnäytelmä oli tarpeen järjestää. Oikeudenkäynnin riippumattomuus voidaan kyllä kyseenalaistaa, mutta tulos sopii länsimaisen oikeuskäsityksen omaavalle riittävän hyvin.
BBC:n koostama oikeudenkäynnin timeline on täällä englanninkielellä.
"Saddam Hussein and six other defendants - including his cousin Ali Hassan al-Majid, known as "Chemical Ali" - are on trial over the killing of more than 100,000 Kurds during "Operation Anfal" in 1987 and 1988."
